YOGA AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
“Healing is a process of coming home to the truth and fullness of who we are.”
Yoga is the subtle science of bringing mind, body, and spirit into harmony. Yoga, mindfulness, and meditation, along with traditional talk therapy, can create a more holistic healing process. Yoga, with or without talk therapy, can improve a client’s connectedness and awareness of one’s internal experience, creating self-acceptance and harmony with oneself and others.
Yoga can help people with:
● dissociation
● anxiety and panic attacks
● disordered eating or eating disorders
● body dysmorphia, body shame, body perfectionism
● exercise addiction
● sexual abuse
● physical abuse
● trauma
● maladaptive and racing thoughts
● self-esteem issues and confidence
Yoga provides an opportunity for choice and empowerment over one’s body and thoughts creating a sense of agency and decreasing fears and anxieties. Yoga with talk therapy brings self-awareness and the ability to be in the present moment and safe within one’s body. Yoga can bring joy and contentment.
